We'd like to welcome you back!

The Memorial Hall is now open to individual and group hire.
Our regular groups have started again, and other new people have joined us.

The Trustees have taken advantage of the Covid 19-related closure to carry out building and decoration works, mainly the replacement of the gas-fired heating system. We have installed an Air Source Heat Pump, a sustainable method of heating and cooling our building.  These are the new radiators. They automatically open and close, bringing in air from the outside, and passing it over a heat exchanger. They cool the room as well, if needed, although we do also open the windows for full ventilation. We've repainted the Hall walls, we believe for first time since the 1970s, and replaced the curtains with roller blinds for a cleaner and less cluttered look. We've got new and lightweight seats. We'll be fitting a drop-down screen at the front of the stage, and are planning to instal the sound system permanently.

You are cordially invited to our Annual General Meeting
Thursday 16 June 2022     4.30 until 5.30pm    at the Hall

Open to all hall users and local residents, starting with a cup of tea, so please send your confirmation of attendance to the Secretary  (email: pmhsecretary@gmail.com) then we can cater for you, and also have a record of people attending, for our minutes and for Covid security. If you have any agenda items please send to the same address.
The final agenda will be confirmed nearer the date.

Last year's minutes are available to read on the AGM 2022 news page above.

OUR WILDLIFE GARDEN
Since the crazy paving patio was transformed into a wildflower patch, with perennial native shrubs for colour and nectar, the "birds and bees" turf has been a riot of colour - daisies, ragged robin, harebells, all being visited by the pollinating insects of Patcham. We gave it a "Chelsea Chop" last year, as the rain and the glorious weather encouraged a lot of vigorous clover and teasels. A skilled meadow-manager volunteer, Lesley, has been helping us and she will be scything it regularly. Perennial planting in the front beds and at the side of the hall is now established and the Pax commemorative roses have been in full bloom, repeat flowering after deadheading and tying-in on the fence.
The banks are homes to Solitary Bees, or mason bees, miner bees, who live in their own burrows there, as they have done for decades. This year's early spring sunshine encouraged them to fly about in the warmth, but they're completely safe  - they're not aggressive because they don't have honey to protect. Nevertheless, please don't come into the garden without permission, as the planting is settling into place and we have more to put in.
Public Documents
As we're a charity, our governance documents are open to the public.  Our revamped 2012 Constitution, Minutes of the last few years' AGMs, and Treasurer and Chair's annual reports can be found on this page
Patcham Memorial Hall is a charity run by a group of local residents, representatives of user groups, and appointed trustees

It was originally founded in memory of the local men and women who went to the Great War, and it has been serving the village and parish of Patcham since 1924. It has a fascinating history, including being requisitioned for the Second World War effort in 1939.

Most local people know it as
  • a dance hall with a wonderful smooth and polished floor
  • weekly U3A classes  and WI meetings
  • a good-sized venue for children's parties
  • perfect for Swing and Jive classes, Scottish dancing, French traditional Bals Folk, Fitsteps, and Zumba classes
  • our local Polling Station, and
  • a place for regular groups to do local things together
